In December 2004 the Tsunami affected 70% of Sri Lankas coast line leaving thousands dead and even more homeless. The dilemma is even now unprecedented as to the swell of orphans left from the Tsunami. Over 12,000 new orphans in need of a safe and secure environment this is why we are proposing to purchase the 10 acre property and refurbish this old hotel as our base of operation located central and affordable to MAP 1040 works in India and Indonesia.
MAP 1040 emerged from the vision of Luke and Sandy Walters from a small town called Clinton in rural south Louisiana. They moved their family to Sri Lanka (SL) and established a network of like minded volunteers to reach into these nations. Their four children were educated in India and lived in a boarding school environment while Luke and Sandy worked in SL. The sacrificial life of living in these cultures to help hurting people has enabled them to embrace the lives of so many without hope. Luke speaks world wide on the plight of those who can not help themselves but stays close to SL where he began this journey.

SL located geographically central to the masses of humanity is a small tear drop nation at the eastern tip of India. This nation has been entrenched in ongoing civil war for the past twenty years. MAP 1040 first went to SL and fell in love with the people and saw where western mindset could start to engage the cultures of the Southeast Asian theatre and not feel so out of place. Foreigners are treated as guests in SL and with high regard due to the colonialization of SL from the British. SL was formerly called Ceylon by the British and gained her independence not long after India received hers. SL is known for the world's finest tea and strives to present itself as a tourist nation for many Europeans.

MAP 1040 has started negotiations to purchase an old hotel called the Blue Lagoon in Negombo, Sri Lanka. This west coast setting affords protection from future Tsunamis and is located just a short 20 minute drive from Katanayaka International Airport. The property provides easy access to the nation and is a forty five minute drive to the bustling Colombo. The old hotel needs refurbishing as the owner wants to sell the property for humanitarian efforts only. The property is 10 acres and has 14 buildings. Two of the buildings are large restaurants with one being cafeteria style. Another building is hotel style with 20 connecting rooms for staff and volunteers to come to SL to offer assistance short term. Long term volunteers will be house in the large bungalows. The large administration building will be converted into an International School and will have easy access to the cafeteria. We will cater to the local people with a small medical and dental clinic to help meet the demands for immediate health care. This too will allow training for hygiene for disease prevention. The property's western border is on the Indian Ocean and will provide recreation in the sea pool that is already there waiting for the return of laughter.

Our goal to secure this property and proceed with refurbishing and launching these departments is as follows…
Purchase of property and government rights … $1,250,000US
Refurbishment of property… $250,000US
The property appraised at $10,000,000US as per location and land amount. Land is the big thing in SL. The land mass in SL is relatively small and drives the price of land up exponentially. In May we our hope is to finalize the purchase and begin immediate refurbishment activities.
